Heidi has been dancing for thirteen years. When hip pain began making movement increasingly uncomfortable, particularly in training, it threatened to take dancing away from her altogether. With treatment from Maddie at Six Physio, she found her way back to stronger, more confident movement.
Support that understood what dance meant to her
Heidi's treatment combined physiotherapy exercises, Pilates and shockwave therapy.
"Maddie has been really supportive and patient throughout my journey," Heidi says, "and she has been really, really helpful in getting me back to my original shape and removing all the pain."
Working together, Heidi began moving with more strength in her training, and with it came a confidence in her dancing that had been missing for a while.
When pain started taking dance away
Heidi's hip pain did not just make movement uncomfortable. It reached into the rest of her life too, cutting into the hours she could spend training and, with them, the time she spent with friends.
"When I couldn't do all of that training, I had to cut down on some hours, which really made me feel quite isolated and left out from seeing my friends."
Why is early treatment important for dancers?
Heidi describes feeling steadier in herself these days, both on the floor and off it.
"I feel a lot more comfortable and confident back in my environment, and I just feel a lot more positive and supported every day now."
