Equipment pilates classes

There's a moment in Pilates, usually a few weeks in, when a movement that used to take real effort just starts to feel like yours. That's the moment every session here is quietly built towards.

Example conditions

  • Back Pain

Reformer-based exercises to strengthen the spine and core.

  • Post-Surgical Rehab

Guided Pilates on the reformer to rebuild strength after surgery.

  • Joint Hypermobility

    Controlled strengthening for hypermobile joints.

  • Postural Correction

Pilates sequences to address spinal alignment.

Reformer Pilates, at your pace

Most injuries happen in the gap between what a movement asks of you and what your body's actually ready to give. We've always thought Pilates is one of the best ways of closing that gap, because it lets you keep moving, keep training, keep doing the things you love, but slowly enough that we can see exactly what your body's doing and correct it before pain has the chance to set back in. It's less about pushing through and more about relearning a pattern properly, at a pace your body can actually keep up with.

That work happens on the reformer, the Cadillac and the Wunda chair, in studios built for exactly this kind of session, though the equipment is really just the means to an end. Most of our Pilates is physiotherapy-led, whether you're working 1:1 or in a small class of three to one clinician, and no two programmes look the same, because no two bodies are asking for the same thing. Some sessions are about mobility, some about strength, some simply about moving with a bit more confidence than you walked in with.

This genuinely suits anyone, whatever your age, whatever you're carrying, whether that's an old injury, a new baby, or nothing at all beyond wanting to move well for longer. If you haven't seen one of our physiotherapists before, we'll start with a proper 1:1 assessment, not a form to fill in, but a real conversation about your history and what you're hoping to get back to, so your programme is built around you from the very first session. From there, we keep a close eye on how you're progressing, week to week, so your sessions keep adjusting alongside you rather than staying still

Experience the reformer difference

You'll find us running across the week from our 13 Pilates studios. Our City clinics offer both hour-long sessions and a 45-minute option built to fit into a lunch hour, while our more residential clinics run hour-long classes six days a week. At Putney, you can choose between a 3:1 class with a physiotherapist or a 4:1 class with one of our experienced Pilates instructors. Our Lindfield clinic runs both machine-based and mat classes Monday to Saturday, and Ashley Cross offers 3:1 classes from their new studio in Dorset. And if coming into clinic isn't quite right for you at the moment, we run a small number of virtual, mat-based classes you can follow from home instead.
