I am a very fit 78 year old woman and have seen that I'm developing a dowagers hump. I definitely do not want this. I know that I have a tendency to hold my head forward. Can physio get rid of this hump/prevent it getting worse? Kind regards Norita

Hi Norita Great question - in all honesty, Physio will not be able to get rid of it or prevent it getting worse. But the good news is, you can. I don't think you'll be able to get rid of it but I think you possibly can slow the process down and maybe even stop it getting worse by doing a simple set of exercises - which are set by a Physio. Let me know if you need any recommendations. The Guru

Norita was grateful for the response:

Thanks very much for your honest answer. I'm happy to pay for something that will work but have limited money-so every penny has to be well spent. Could you please recommend a few suitable physios I live in London NW6 Can you also tell me please if any of these options would help: deep tissue massage (I know an excellent masseur-who gives this) acupuncture experienced trainer at the gym yoga pilates Kind regards Norita

The Guru replies:

I think a session or 2 of rehab at our Finchley Road Clinic to show you what you need to do, and keeping well within your budget would be a great place to start. Massage and acupuncture as you’ve suggested are very “passive” where someone does something to you. The trainer maybe a little too much and the Yoga a little to stretchy but Pilates would be great - and certainly something we’d advocate. Hope this helps. The Guru
