Hi, I have been getting shooting pains all afternoon on the back, right hand side of my neck shooting up into the base of my skull, it makes me flinch and gasp every time it happens. It all started soon after my husband braked very hard and suddenly whilst driving at high speed. Is that a coincidence or related?? Thanks!!

Hi Carmen It's the straw that's broken the camels back I'm afraid.  He's simply given you a small nudge over the edge and you can now feel symptoms. Take some over the counter anti inflams and painkillers (if you're able), keep your neck gently moving, not stretching into end range and try some gentle shoulder shrugs. Try not to slouch around tonight or tomorrow and I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon. The Guru
