With 100,000 competitors; 10 race distances, 10% increase in female competitors, over £1,000,000 raised for charity
Top 10 facts about the last 10 years (see attached timeline)
- Grown from 1,000 to 18,000 annual competitors
- Expanded from one to five iconic castle locations
- Offers 10 different triathlon distances across the event weekend
- Camping and festival are central themes; last year saw 1,000 campers at Hever Castle alone
- The Castle Triathlon Series created the first curriculum-linked primary school resources for triathlon (Tri Knights) and subsequently created materials for Triathlon Scotland, Welsh Triathlon and Triathlon Ireland helping them grow their junior triathlon membership
- The Series embraces diversity. This was borne out in glorious technicolour when competitor Bailey Matthews (an eight-year-old with cerebral palsy) rose to Global fame and was awarded the BBC Personality of the Year Award after competing in the 2015 Castle Howard Triathlon
- Introduced the Keep Loyalty Scheme recognising people who have returned year-on-year to the Series, testament to the 43% loyalty rate
- One of the first to introduce Mixed Team Relay races (short triathlon for each of the four team members) to celebrate the format adopted at the 2020 Olympics
- First timers, novices and female competitors are a key focus with the Starter Tri field growing at 30% year-on-year
- Hosted more than ten qualifying races including the British Middle Distance Championships at Hever Castle on 8th July 2018
