Frequently Asked Questions
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a treatment used to help someone regain, maintain or improve their ability to do day to day activities. It can be used for anyone, with/ without any injuries, in any age group. The main physiotherapy specialties include: musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory.
Here at Six we have specialists who provide treatments for musculoskeletal conditions, women’s and men’s health, and hand therapy etc.
What does a Physiotherapist do?
A musculoskeletal physio can treat people with conditions related to their joints, bones, muscles or peripheral nerves.
Physios treat their patients with a holistic approach. They can identify an individual’s musculoskeletal dysfunction through movement analysis and manual testing. In addition, they also take into account an individual’s general health/ medical history and social history to identify whether there are any barriers to recovery.
Physio treatment generally includes advice and education regarding the individual’s condition, exercise prescription and manual therapy. They can also refer patients to specialists if further investigations or treatments are needed.
