Left sided neck and face pain

January 10, 2014

John asked The Guru for the following Physiotherapy Advice:

I have pins and needles in my left hand, pain in my neck left side for a few days and sometimes tension in the face/jaw left side.

Can a physio do something for me or shall I see an ostheopath ?

Hi John

As long as you’ve got no chest pain, or history of cardiac issues, then this is a musculoskeletal issue.

Physio is great for your pain and symptoms like this. Its sounds as if you’ve got an issue with your neck, which is causing the nerve to become irritated or trapped as it moves from your neck and out into your arm.

The face and jaw pain is the body trying to help, by increasing stiffness around your neck, but in doing so makes it all a bit worse.

Get a physio with a good reputation, and you should be back on the money within a few weeks
