Neck, Shoulders & Core
April 2, 2020
Iona Cobb my GP has sent me through to you.
I am 65 female and have some historic neck issues.
20 years ago neck surgery – C 4,5 clean up
Now nagging stress pain causing headaches in lower part of skull on both sides.
I know I need to get some core muscles in order to improve my posture and help my neck.
My current supersize is 45 min 4 times a day on my treadmill.
Can you help me?
Thank you
Toni

Morning Toni – I’m sure we can help.
You get these nagging headaches because your loose control of your head on neck, especially as the day progresses and you fatigue.
Having a stiff and relatively immobile thoracic spine forces you to poke your chin out, compressing the joints in your neck and referring pain up into your head.
So you need to make sure that you get your thoracic spine moving better – and especially when on the treadmill try and lift your chest up. Stand tall, but not stiff – it’ll help your alignment and take the pressure off the joints in your neck. Think quality of exercise and not just quantity….less is more on the TM.
You also need to get the muscles around you neck working better, not necessarily getting stronger.
Try doing some of these
